Leyton Orient are mourning the loss of long-serving staff member Lucy Freeman, who has died at the age of 35. The club confirmed her passing in a statement released on Tuesday, October 1.
Lucy Freeman had been part of Leyton Orient since childhood, managing the club's ticketing and retail departments. She was a familiar and friendly face to many supporters, often providing a comforting presence in the club shop and at the ticket office, and was on first-name terms with countless fans.
"Lucy will be deeply missed by all of her colleagues past and present," the club said in its statement. They added a simple, heartfelt message: "Rest in peace, Lucy."
Tribute at Plymouth match
The club will honour Freeman's memory with a period of silence ahead of their next fixture. This tribute will be observed before the League One match against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, October 3, with all supporters and players from both sides invited to join.
That match comes after a difficult run of form for the O's, who have lost four of their last five games. They sit 11th in the League One standings with 10 points from eight matches.
The club's focus this weekend, however, will be on paying respect to a beloved member of their family. The tribute for Lucy Freeman will be held at Brisbane Road prior to kick-off against Plymouth.
