Loan Deal Details
Plymouth Argyle have signed 27-year-old midfielder Tyreeq Bakinson from Leyton Orient on a season-long loan. Bakinson, who last played for the O's in the 2025/26 campaign, made 43 appearances for Leyton Orient, including 31 starts, before moving to the Pilgrims. He is set to join the squad for the Carabao Cup second-round tie against Coventry City at the Theatre of Greens on Tuesday at 7.45pm.

Plymouth boss Tom Cleverley described Bakinson as a player who can “do a bit of everything” in midfield. He praised Bakinson’s height - 6ft 3in - his physical presence, game reading and clean ball-handling. Cleverley said the signing was a quick response to the departure of Brendan Wiredu to Salford City and the injury to Malachi Boateng. “I’m looking forward to working with him,” Cleverley told BBC Radio Devon.
Plymouth’s director of football Derek Adams added that Bakinson’s experience in League One and his status as a former promotion winner make him a good fit for the club’s ambitions. Adams noted that Bakinson will be the eighth signing of the summer window, following the permanent arrivals of Murphy Cooper, James Storer, Wes Harding, Alex Hartridge, Alex Mitchell, Harvey White and Will Evans.
Bakinson's Background
Bakinson first joined Plymouth on loan from Bristol City during the Covid-shortened 2019/20 season, making 12 starts and two substitute appearances before the campaign was curtailed in March. He has since played for Sheffield Wednesday, Wycombe Wanderers, Charlton Athletic (on loan) and Leyton Orient. Bakinson joined Orient from Wycombe on a three-year contract last summer.
The midfielder’s return to Home Park comes after a period of fitness recovery; he has not played for Leyton Orient since the final match of last season but is ready to feature for Plymouth immediately. He will be a key addition to the squad as the Pilgrims prepare for the Carabao Cup clash with Coventry City.
