Jakob Lowe has signed his first professional contract with Leyton Orient, committing his future to the club for the next three years. The 17-year-old forward's new deal is a reward for his development through the O's academy system.
Lowe joined the club as an apprentice after a youth career that included six years at Chelsea and a spell with Sutton United. He has been a key figure for the Under-18s and made an immediate impact on his senior debut, scoring for Cray Wanderers during a loan spell last season.
Academy Manager Mel Jeffries hailed the news as a significant moment for the player and the club's youth pathway. "This is brilliant news and a true testament to Jakob’s attitude and hard work," Jeffries said. Director of Football Scott Mitchell also praised Lowe's application and development since arriving at the club.
Lowe said signing the contract represented the culmination of his efforts so far. "This is all that I’ve worked for throughout my career so far, so it feels really good," the teenager told the club's official channels.
The move follows the recent breakthrough of fellow academy graduate Phil Chinedu, illustrating a clear route from the youth setup to the professional ranks at Brisbane Road. With Leyton Orient currently 10th in League One on 10 points, the integration of homegrown talent is seen as vital for the club's ambitions.
Lowe will now aim to force his way into first-team contention as the O's look to build on their last result, a 1-0 home win over Stevenage. The team's form over the last five games shows one win, one draw and three defeats, a sequence they will be eager to improve upon. The next challenge is that away match at Mansfield, with the full schedule available on our fixtures page. Jakob Lowe's new contract runs until the summer of 2029.
