Leyton Orient have taken a meaningful step forward in their plans to find a new home away from Brisbane Road. The club has signed a Development Performance Agreement with the London Borough of Waltham Forest and appointed global architects Populous to design a proposed new stadium and multi-sport campus.

This formal agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year and underpins the project's next phase. The vision includes a stadium to host Leyton Orient’s men’s and women’s teams, plus a London American football franchise in the European League of Football. The wider campus will feature retail, hospitality and leisure facilities, with the club stating the development could create thousands of jobs and training opportunities for young people.

Stadium timeline tied to anniversary

The club aims to have the new stadium ready by 2031, which coincides with Leyton Orient's 150th anniversary. The current ground, Brisbane Road, has been home since 1937 and has a capacity of 9,271, with expansion understood to be limited. No capacity has been set for the new venue, and the DPA does not constitute planning permission.

The project is intended to support the club's ambition to reach the Championship. Leyton Orient currently sit 11th in League One on 10 points after seven games. The club's recent form has seen them accumulate those points from three wins, one draw, and three losses. The team's goal difference stands at minus two, having scored eight goals and conceded ten.
